Arsenal V Newcastle Utd

MONDAY NIGHT AT THE EMIRATES

Few on Saturday the 13th August when these two teams first clashed this season would have predicted tonights match would be a battle for champions league football.  The media portrayed both teams facing a season of struggle on the back of a summer losing their key players.  But what has developed over the course of the season has taken even the most experienced pundit by surprise.

Like many I have waited for the decline of Newcastle but Alan Pardew's men have reacted to defeats and injuries and bounced back.  The Arsenal season has been a real rollercoaster ride and tested the resolve of many a gooner.  But in recent weeks there has been signs of a up turn in their season grinding out a result at Anfield and the almost impossible recovery against AC Milan.

My view on tonights match is that I can only see Arsenal maintaining there recent home form of six wins from seven matches.  Coupled with Newcastles poor away record of five defeats from seven I cannot see any other outcome than a home win.  Even with all this considered I can still see Newcastle scoring tonight.  Everyone knows of Arsenals defensive problems and with Demba Ba & Papiss Cisse in the starting lineup Newcastle will definately provide a threat.

THOUGHTS FOR TONIGHT

Arsenal to win @1.45
Over 2.5 goals @1.63
Both teams to score @1.85
Demba Ba to score @3.75
Cheikh Tiote to be booked @2.1

Good luck Punters !
