Quiet midweek

After watching Southampton and Everton share a goalless draw on Monday night I'm hopeful the one and only midweek fixture will offer a few more goals.  I was surprised by the 0-0 score line in the Monday night match, both teams have scored and conceded regularly this season.  I opted for a possible draw or Everton win as the match result and that proved correct.  I didn't believe Everton would lose and thought there might have been more of a tense atmosphere around the ground due to the managerial change.  This did not materialise and this helped Southampton in their performance and gain another vital home point.

Wednesday sees Arsenal play West Ham at home in the league, West Ham come into this match with a record of scoring just one goal away to Arsenal in their last five visits.  Overall this fixture has a record of three home wins, one draw and one away win.  This match has added importance for the gunners after their loss on Sunday.  With Arsenal now having three home league matches in a row they will see this as a vital chance to close the gap on the top four.  Their recent form is not brilliant with one win from their last five matches.  Interestingly Arsenal home matches have seen two or more first half goals in six of their last ten home matches.  The visitors are also another team suffering with indifferent form, with only two wins in the last ten matches and both of these being at home.  On the road West Ham have two wins this season and both of these came at league strugglers QPR & Newcastle.  They have lost six of their last ten away and not scoring a goal in any of their last five away.  Another interesting point concerning West Ham is they have conceded six times in the first 15 minutes of their last ten away matches.  Looking at the averages in this match Arsenal home matches have averaged just over four goals per game whilst West Ham away matches have averaged just under two goals.  Overall my thoughts for this match would be suggesting we should see goals and a home win.

Thanks for reading and good luck to everybody !!
