Yesterday the blog had another reasonably successful day with achieving the goals I predicted but narrowly missing out on correct match predictions. The last match of the premier league weekend sees Everton travel down south.
My thoughts regarding this game cannot help but being effected by what happened at St.Mary's on Friday. Prior to Friday my opinion of Southampton was that they might have been turning the corner. Undefeated in their last five and scoring in all five gave me slight hope they may avoid the drop. But I can't help but believe the sacking of Nigel Adkins will have a major negative impact on the squad. And to compound this upheaval they instantly hired a manager with no premier league experience and a doubtful managerial record. The saints home record over the last ten matches reads as three wins, three defeats and four draws. Looking at their goals record Southampton have scored in nine of their last ten at home but have also conceded in eight of those ten. And coincidentally they play an Everton team that has been a dream for "both teams to score" punters this year. The toffees have seen both teams score in eight of their last ten away matches, also boasting only two defeats in their last ten away. A very good record but fifty percent of these matches have been drawn and if Everton are serious regarding champions league football there must be more wins soon. Historically Everton do not have a great record away to Southampton with only one win in their last seven trips. Although their record is better at St.Mary's compared to their record at the dell. Overall I would be predicting at least a couple of goals in this match and if I had to select a match outcome I would be torn between a draw and a Everton win.
Anyway thanks for reading and good luck !!!
